My new DIY bread basket

This is a long due project. We used to have a bread basket for over 10 years.

It was big enough for two loafs of bread, it had a cover and it was pretty. It used to be the package of a gift from the Philippines. After so many years of use, it started falling apart. However, I couldn’t throw it away before something was found to replace it. Everything I found was either too small or too big and not as nice as the original. So I decided to make my own. After a lot of thought and research on the internet and pinterest (my favorite social media) I managed to make a new bread basket/box which I think is visually pretty and practical. I hope it will last as long as the previous one.

All you need is a shoe box at your preferred size and some cotton fabric of your favorite colors. I chose white canvas for the main box, striped blue cotton for the lid of the box and blue denim for the handle. I wanted something to suit our white minimal kitchen and the view of the blue sea!

I cannot write a “step by step” method but I hope that the pictures will be clear enough to help you figure out how to do it.

Enjoy and do not hesitate to contact me for comments or questions.
