My Handmade Christmas, part 1

Every year I try to do as many handmade Christmas presents and objects as I can. I think a handmade present is greatly appreciated. My first attempt is this “minimal” Christmas tree that you can hang on the wall.

You just need three things:

  1. a copper pipe of 65cm to 75 cm length (mine is 75cm but It could be done with a shorter pipe),
  2. natural cotton yarn (or whatever yarn or wool you want) and
  3. 250cm of rubber string.

The method is very simple:

  • Cut 6 pieces, 90cm long of  cotton yarn
  • Fold them in the middle and tie them (as shown in the pictures 2,3 & 4) on the copper pipe
  • Repeat this as much as needed to cover the 1/3 of the copper pipe (in my case I did this 37 times). This depends on the thickness of your yarn and on the length of your pipe. (Photo 5)
  • Pass the rubber string through the pipe and tie it so that you form an equilateral triangle
  • Hang it on your wall!!!! (Photo 6)

I would love to see your creations so share them on Instagram and tag @ourmodusvivendi.

Stay tuned for more crafts real soon.
