MACRAMÉ – The Craft of Knotting
Macramé is the craft of Knotting...
As a family, we own a small Agrotourism complex consisting of 6 stone built suites....
A few months ago Yiannos was invited to a TV cooking program....
I never say no to a short (or long) trip to Athens. There are so many things you can do there all year around.
The quince is the sole member of the genus Cydonia in the family Rosaceae....
Visiting flea markets is one of our favourite things.
My childhood friend “F” is a very good cook. Actually I am not stressing this enough, she is an EXCELLENT cook.
It’s Summer + slides are in fashion + I enjoy creating = A brand new pair of slides in 15 minutes! An equation that you don’t need a science degree to solve! Let’s get started then.
Do you also happen to have the urge of eating something without necessarily being hungry?
As you already know cooking is one of my passions. What you might not know is that I enjoy grocery shopping as well.
I met Natalie in 2002, as soon as she came back from her studies in New York. She studied Fashion design in FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology).
New products, new words, new habits have emerged in our lives the last few years.
As I already mentioned in previous posts, we like to have friends over for lunch or dinner. Usually it is a spur-of-the-moment thing. “Come over for dinner” or “We are going to cook spaghetti, why don’t you join us” etc.
Have you ever thought of making Banana Jam? No? Neither have I. We are used to strawberry jam, apricot jam, citrus marmalade but not banana.
As a crafter, sewer and a newbie quilter I have loads of fabric scraps in my craft room.
As a family, we like to cook and we like having people around for dinner. Whether this is a spur-of-the-moment invite or a properly planned dinner party, we always enjoy sharing our culinary adventures with good friends and family.
Advent calendar. Children love advent calendars. They are so excited to open a small box, sachet or door every day from the 1st of December until Christmas day. You can fill the calendar with chocolate, small presents or activities ideas.
The following tutorial is very simple but you need some basic sewing skills to do it. It is a stuffed Christmas tree.
Every year I try to do as many handmade Christmas presents and objects as I can. I think a handmade present is greatly appreciated. My first attempt is this “minimal” Christmas tree that you can hang on the wall.
Eleni, our daughter, wanted to change her bookshelves in her bedroom. They were to replace a bulky IKEA bookshelf.
Summer can get very hot in Cyprus even on our veranda by the sea. The ceiling fan makes some difference but a long, soothing, cold drink always helps.
Recently, our youngest daughter, Eleni, who is 19 now decided to rearrange her bedroom.
As a student of Architecture I chose to take landscape architecture as an optional course for three years.
As a person, I like challenges. I like to set goals even though I am not a competitive person with other people.
The people that know me well they know that I am a crafty person.
As I mentioned in my previous post Anthoula Polyviou had an exhibition on the 15th April and presented her new work.
We met Anthoula by accident, literally and metaphorically, when her car broke down outside our office on a rainy evening back in 1986. She came in to ask for help and we became inseparable friends ever since!!! As simple as that!
This is a long due project. We used to have a bread basket for over 10 years.
Modus Vivendi is a small agrotourism complex in the heart of Psematismenos village in Cyprus.
I first tasted this “flourless bread” at our friend’s E house. She called it “bread” and she served it with the aperitif topped with olive paste or avocado.
Recently I had to spend six days in Carrara, a small provincial town North East of Florence and 5 Km from the coast on the hills where they quarry the famous marble.
As Christmas time is approaching we started decorating our houses with what we think is beautiful and tasteful. Most people tend to overdo it.
Christmas time is ideal for crafts. I always used to do Christmas crafts for my home and my friends but I never did an advent calendar.
August is the month that we celebrate. We celebrate Yiannos’s birthday, we celebrate our wedding anniversary and of course we celebrate Summer! We usually spend August travelling to the Greek islands, home by the beach, on the mountains at our summer house or we combine all of the above (which is the perfect Summer vacation).
The story: In our country there is an abundance of tasty ripe tomatoes from May to the end of October. We always use them in cooking and we often grate and freeze them so we can also use them when they are not in season....
The Story: When we got married, near our first apartment on the sea, there was this guy that we called “the Turk” who served this wonderful boneless grilled chicken with a white paste that was pure garlic with olive oil.
I always like to offer handmade gifts for birthdays, Christmas, christenings, newborns. I think that a gift made with love is always special. The problem with me is that I am not very organized so my gifts are always a bit late!!!
